Cyber security threats to digital agriculture
***PAID FOCUS GROUP*** Looking for Ontario farmers who use digital agriculture technology to participate in an online focus group. Your valuable time and opinions will be acknowledged via compensation of $50 to an eatery of your choice that is equipped with online gift cards. Focus group length is ~95 minutes. The research is on Ontario farmers’ perceptions of cyber security in digital agriculture. Participant insights, opinions, and experiences will inform cyber security support developments for farmers and the agri-food sector. Research is under the supervision of Dr. Evan Fraser with the Geography Department at the University of Guelph. This project has been reviewed by the Research Et...

This video has the United Nations Climate Change disclaimer. Global warming was officially stated at 1.1°C in 1991 and 1.06°C in 2022. There is no mechanism that would allow greenhouse gas behavior to cause global warming. The back of the United Nation's IPCC science report states it took its greenhouse gas samples at 20,000 meters altitude where it is common high school level knowledge there is no greenhouse radiant energy. This is typical practice for deceptive marketing to state legal data transparency protecting the perpetrators from fraud prosecution. The IPCC has been transparent with its data acknowledging it is not dealing with active greenhouse gases. Earth's greenhouse effect is frequently used as a primary example to high school students of a system always in saturation from the strong greenhouse gas water vapor absorbing all the greenhouse radiant energy from the earth with greenhouse gases within 20 meters of the radiating surface that is all around us everyday and can't have its overall effect changed. There is no further greenhouse radiant energy to interact with greenhouse gases. At 1% average tropospheric water vapor over 99% of earth’s greenhouse effect is from water vapor. Water vapor would hold earth's greenhouse effect in saturation if it were the only greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. Arctic warming is taking place with the proving mechanism being warm Atlantic Ocean waters migrating deeper and more frequently into the Arctic Ocean warming it and the region. That warmer water is causing a few weeks less of reflective snow and ice coverage resulting in more solar heat gain to the Arctic region surface. Atmospheric CO2 levels of 1200 ppm about three times what they are today would greatly invigorate C3 plants the majority of plant life on earth greatly greening the planet. 0.4% of the atmosphere is CO2 and on average 1% is H20 water vapor. (1% H20)/(0.4% CO2) = 25. Water vapor is 25 times more present in the atmosphere on average than CO2. Water vapor has an CO2e of 18, 18 X 25 = 450 CO2e total for water vapor to 1 CO2e for CO2. The Earth’s oceans have 3-1/2 million sea floor volcanic vents warming the water and changing it’s chemistry that have not been systematically accounted for.

“There will never be a way for modern communities to feed themselves by local, small farms” I don’t believe this to be true, I envision communities in control of their food supply through locally embedded agricultural technologies I’ve invented a smart farming appliance that grows enough yield and variety to fully supply crops at the point of consumption. This way consumers will be food producers, circumnavigating the conventional ag system and in full control of their food supply

It's becoming illegal to own a farm as pace of regulations is faster than innovation. Nitrogen fertilizers are being banned in Netherlands which will put farmers out of business, all because the politicians think Nitrogen is bad for the environment.

In Asia density of population and other factors reduced local farm land dramatically.secondly local farmers canot compete with higher yield mechanised large scale farming.may be local system have a chance to fail feed entire humanity.

According to the IAASTD smallscale diverse agriculture with agro-ecological-techniques is about the only thing to safe the planet and it makes sense: Food needs to be cheaper than its value, for a society to enable development, so to be able to withstand a competing country. Thus historically those cultures proved victorious. It is reason why old Egypt and Rome had slaves and why our politicians and farming practices are promoting unsustainable mass agriculture which delays the problem into the future. The problem is we are already dependent on chemical industrial farming and global food supply-chains.

wait how is 2700 calories and 75g of protein enough? (a heavy working male needs 3000) It is assumed that 2000m² would sustain an average human (without (textile) fibers) of food, but if you try to plan a garden of that size it provides barely enough to feel safe in most farmlands of the world. Only some tropical prime locations with good (volcanic) soil an average temperature between 20-30C and air humidity around 50% can sustain this easily, providing 2x of what would be drastically needed. So just enough to live comfortable with high standards of nutrition and some reserves for bad harvest. In conclusion our global food system is highly reliant on fossil fuels, fertilizers, unsustainable practices of mass production and specializing and global supply chains, which is not safe at all. The notion that 2700 Calories and 75g protein suffice is misleading in this regard! I wouldn't advice one third of overproduction to be safe, but rather 4x the amount!! It seems to me we are not at the edge but almost over it in regards of sustainability and natural reserves. Please tell me how my equation is off

Yes I agree that local food systems need to be supported in every country though we need to balance this need with the biological facts of carrying capacity. Human populations can not continually grow if we expect to keep our earthly life support systems functional. I believe we need to pay indigenous folks to rebuild ecosystems that have supported their populations historically with carbon credit inputs from wealthy nations. In addition all human populations need to have access to family planning tools so families can decide the number of children they wish to have. Thank you for your critical information. Be well.

Hey Evan. I’ve seen some of your research. Question, is it not misleading the public to tell them 1/3 of green house gases comes from agriculture? The ocean is the highest co2 producer, burning fossil fuel of any kind would be next. But fear mongering people to believe agriculture and food are “bad” or “responsible “ for climate change tells me your one of those NWO flakes. Have you ever took time to explain the components of co2. Have you ever explained to people that in every single experiment ever done with co2 and any plant, with extreme levels of co2 pumped into the grow rooms the plants grow up to 40% bigger? Do you suggest we send good old seed from Monsanto to the needy folks around the world. This is called propaganda, or conditioning. I’m betting that’s where the money comes from to fund your institue as well All the big wig shareholders who want to put a carbon tax on food make people live in 400square foot container homes, all the while loathing ourselves because “WE” are so called responsible for the mess. You and people like you confuse everything with your double talk and bullshyte. God sees you.

9 years later, do you still have the same optimism? The use of synthetic fertilizers has deeply degraded and reduced the longevity of fertile soil, poses health risks with run off and contributes to climate change. Hunger is a distribution problem and when food is considered a commodity in a capitalist economy, there is no way you'll be able to redistribute that food equally. We can't keep going on like this and instead of doubling down on the way we've been doing things (technological advancement, population growth and economic inequality), maybe we should look to reversing all three.

@@polygondeath2361 How can God be dead? Then that would not be a God? God does not die not was He born. We have very limited minds as humans so we may find it hard to imagine this but it is the truth. It is the only rational explanation of our existence and the Universe. How can we live this life thinking it has no God, no Creator, no Ultimate Superpower? How can we be so ignorant that we think this whole Universe came from nothing. That we are here for no purpose..that "we've no need for god"..??

@@mariamelazab7994 when saying “god is dead” you imply the belief in god is dead. Old practices should be given a pass into history, let religion be one.

Population needs to be in balance with jobs, resources, nature and the environment. The virus is nature fighting back. Humans are crowding out all other species of plants and animals. Men need to be more responsible for their children or get a vasectomy. More people demand more resources. Endless population growth is not sustainable on a finite planet.
